Dr. Stephen J. Verber grew up in the small town of Liberty, New York, and stayed in state to receive his undergraduate degree from the University of Buffalo. He went on to dental school at the Medical College of Virginia. Before graduating in 1972, he met a nursing student named Shelly, and the two have now been married for nearly 40 years. Following graduation Dr. Verber served for two years as a Captain in the U.S. Army. Once his service was completed, he and Shelly moved to Central Pennsylvania and opened a dental practice on Main Street in Mechanicsburg. The practice would remain there for the next 20 years, until moving to its present location on Market Street in Camp Hill. Dr. Verber is a member of the Academy of General Dentistry, and stays current with the newest techniques through his attendance at continuing education seminars. He is an active contributor to the community, was instrumental in the creation of Cumberland Valley’s Eagle Foundation, acted as the first president, and was voted community leader of the year by his peers. He is the co-founder of the Cumberland Valley Youth Basketball Association. Dr. Verber also served as president of H.M.M.S; formerly Hampden Township Soccer Association. He coaches girls’ basketball, and is currently a member of the Cumberland Valley school board. He is the proud father of three boys and two granddaughters.
